Iron Man

Iron Man is pretty amazing. Robert Downey Jr. is a great super hero. Who knew? Who knew he was capable of anything other than shooting up heroine? Just kidding. I always thought Robert D was the genius type. Someone who could’ve been one of our generation’s finest actors, had he not been plagued by the psychological demons that drove him to drugs in the first place. But looks like he’s making up for lost time now. Good for him.

Also, want to know a nice little surprise about Iron Man? In the film, Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t half as annoying as her usual self. As a self imposed rule, I try to avoid Gwyneth movies at all costs. (Minus Shallow Hal which airs on FX every Sunday afternoon at approximately 3pm, a.k.a the exact time I find myself sitting on my couch searching for a program that requires zero brain power. But seriously, FX, get some new movies.) Anyway, I’m not a fan of Gwyneth and figured she’d ruin this movie like she does with most things, but she was o.k. and did no such thing.

So yeah, I dug Iron Man. Just thought you should know.

Speed Racer

“Speed Racer” isn’t receiving great reviews. That’s a shame because I was really looking forward to it, mainly because the Wachowski brothers directed it. Oh, well. Just goes to show: don’t try to modernize a classic anime. Also, don’t put Christina Ricci in your film. Cause she’ll ruin it.
