campaign prediction
April 30, 2008
i suspect, now that obama has denounced rev. wright, that hillary will embrace him and accuse obama of playing racial politics and pandering to white voters at the expense of black voters. there is something masterfully evil about clinton’s campaign, sorta like the republicans for the past 30 years, but it keeps on working because people just don’t know better. look at me being an elitist!
she’s done just about everything else, so why not
The tyrant Jeremiah Wright

“Is the Rev. Jeremiah Wright as patriotic as you are?”
Look at the picture above. You tell me.
Today’s idea of patriotism is simply wearing a lapel pin, hanging a gigantic flag outside your house, war lusting, buying a sticker saying you’re patriotic, and a belief in the undebatable greatness of this country. It’s not a surprise either. People are too afraid to serve in the military, too greedy to go into public or humanitarian service, too ignorant to educate themselves. They’ve carved up an idea of patriotism that fits their own selfish lifestyles. The media can substitute real truthful reporting with images of the flag. Politicians who purposely avoided war and never cared about anything but making more money and gaining power can wear a lapel pin. Everybody can feel good about themselves without being inconvenienced.
In the meantime, everything great this country stood for is being destroyed. But because the men and women doing it have been wearing lapel pins the whole time – and because the media has sold everyone on the idea that that is the true measure of a person’s patriotism- they are getting away with everything.
Meanwhile, seven years later, two failing wars with no end in sight and a crumbling economy – all perpetrated by these great flag waving, lapel pin wearing patriotic leaders of ours – and the next election will be decided based on who is friends with whom? Who is wearing what? On words and not their meaning?
I’m not believing this, yet. But everyday this nomination fight keeps going, every time i turn on TV news and see the information that the majority of the people in this country are being exposed to… I lose a little bit more of that hope.

Bush, the Pope, and the Mississippi flag
April 17, 2008

Attention to detail has never been the Bush’s administration strong point, but this is pretty bad. This is just another argument for Mississippi and South Carolina to abandon the Confederate symbol in their state flags. Until then (which is probably never), the government should just hide those flags when the cameras are around – at least, whenever white-robed, creepy-looking Germans with pointy hats come around for a prayer.
Of course, this was not in any way a racist event and the picture is presented out of context. The sad thing is no one would be surprised otherwise, seeing as Bush is Bush and the Catholic Church certainly appears menacing. But Bush, the Church, and the “Confederate” states are declining influence and power every day, so much so that the only way they can get my attention these days is through an accidentally amusing picture that references their past reputation. Let’s just sit back and enjoy the final moments of the Bush presidency, laugh as it deseprately seeks redemption for its sins, and look forward to the future.
Unless McCain wins it all, in which case all of the above is wrong and we should all be extremely terrified.
